Inherent Quality believes in the power and the inherent qualities of individuals and teams...

In fact the manuscript devotes chapter 7 to team and personal processes; and further, the importance of individuals and teams is a central element throughout the manuscript, in fact beginning on page 1. On the first page of the manuscript (i.e. the cover), Inherent Quality recognizes the importance of individuals by having the word ‘Professionals’ clearly standout as a bottom-line essential ingredient which deserves to be showcased, and which must be advanced through application of the results of on-going, collaborative and participatory research and development. Further, page two of the manuscript drives home a related key message using these words,

You’re (quality) : the critical component of the inherent success formula

Examined the above statement conveys that you are quality, that you are the critical component of the inherent success formula for quality, and with "you're" pronounced and converted to 'your' - that your quality is the critical component. In other words, the 'left : right' representations equate to stipulating that the 'right' side delineates you and your quality as analogous to, synonyms for, and/or the prime objects of the critical inherent component of success.

Our original manuscript introduction (book covers and marketing samples; stored for viewing on the ‘Deliverables’ webpage of our site, see ‘1. Inherent Quality’, under which select ‘Samples’) applies instances of a green (money analogy) triangle to point to ‘evolutionary’ and then to point to the secondary audience, as a further indication that the product of turning your QMS triangle up-side down is (a) absolute value in progressive increments for all for every… and therefore is also (b) continuous inherent improvement possibilities that increase without limit (∞) as a result of a focus on, and the efforts of, the prime audience, and the related effective and efficient interaction with relevant stakeholders. Note Page 3 of the manuscript defines the prime and secondary audiences as follows: 'has been written for software and information technology professionals, teachers and students'; … 'also appeals to ‘C’ level executives and all others who interface with and depend upon software and information technology professionals'.

The manuscript calls for the QMS triangle to be virtually turned up-side down to thereby consider baseline elements as if at the top. Baseline elements (such as people, process, tools and so on) are therefore intended to be (or to represent) the prime elements of assuring and progressively enhancing inherent quality. On the cover of the manuscript ‘inherent’ stands out and is presented as a ‘key’ going into the shape (QMS) to unlock the ‘101’ of ‘Quality’ (i .e. ‘i+p’… intrinsic and pervasive). This inherent key is also displayed with the words below highlighting the prime audience and/or prime elements of inherent success. The word ‘Professionals’ stands out (software, information, technology… further define the professional). Particular words appear in the shadow of the shape so as to be considered part of the shadow’s dimensions, actions and associations, e.g. they are part of or under 'inherent' (i.e. the key, the core) and therefore part of quality’s inputs and outputs.

In general and at minimum, the design relative to that just mentioned is: (a) intended to associate particular audience/elements of the key being injected into the shape as the prime causes for the inherent degrees of quality input and output, and therefore also (b) is intended to provide a visualization of sorts that would be consistent with saying such things as:

(i) We as software and information technology professionals must do our collective best to ensure means progressively exist to permit quality to become increasingly more inherent within that which we produce and in ‘how’ we produce albeit from various perspectives including products, services, processes, tools, frameworks, standards and so on

(ii) Together we can evolve quality such as to increasingly have betterment from various perspectives including improved productivity, innovation, sales, savings and return on investments

(iii) Savings and Positive ROI are intended outputs from an inherent quality journey, however as well must be inputs, as it is from on-going R&D (and/or continuous improvement) re-investment that further gains will be made

(iv) Consistent positive ROI equates to Inherent Quality implemented to some degree. However fully implemented, Inherent Quality shall be intrinsically and pervasively within and throughout an organization’s practices, resources, tools and overall success formulas for Quality Management (for example, quality management = assurance + control + improvement; inherent quality = intrinsic + pervasive).

With the insights just shared perhaps you can envision initial design thoughts for the page before Appendix B of the manuscript (i.e. the page before, page 384). When you look at the page again, at minimum note the first words on the left side of the page: ‘evolving quality’. Then note that the key (inherent) is now ‘rightly’ inside the quality shape/domain, and is so congruent with its very nature that it blends in and is part of the fabric (i.e. the words ‘Inherent Quality’, and ‘i+p’ that are within the shape, are now therefore ideally only visible enough to convey the message shown by the bolded gold words you have just read). Then note the same shadow of the shape maintains original dimensions from the cover, however different words… that is, the shadow now conveys 'Savings and Positive ROI'… e.g. as an output derived from the talents of software and information technology professionals… and/or as also an input to the efforts and activities of these individuals. Evolving quality, we believe and wish to emphasize, then depends both on the innovations of individuals, and on the daily personal quality (and quality interactions) of individuals. Inherent Quality then among other recognizes: the importance of the individual and of the individuals that comprise the team; the many expanding components of the body of knowledge for software and information technology professionals; the knowledge, wisdom and creativity in the minds of all; the power, excellence, agility, consistency, reusability and innovation that comes from a common foundation and effective collaboration.

Collaboration then is and will always be a key ingredient of Inherent Quality, and for inherent quality successes. As such effective collaboration is a must, and this requires the power of individuals to produce collaboration tools, to utilize collaboration tools, and to collaborate in quality ways and from the perspective of a personal inherent quality mantra (and/or a personal inherent quality mindset), upon which such things as bodies of knowledge and frameworks are (from an inherent quality core) established, enhanced and ideally incorporated within enterprise tool suites and so on, including within the inherent infrastructure of a profession, business, academic and other entity, and including within the inherent qualities of the collaborating individual professionals. In fact also including recognition for an important statement of reality - 'it is these collaborating individual professionals that will produce and carry out high standards of conduct as well as tool and automation supported best practices'. Inherent Quality then recognizes the importance of individuals, and in so doing, in the importance of two-way mentoring and teamwork. To assure highly cost-effective quality, you do and will need it to be inherent… and you do need all to understand and to contribute to maturing what that means. In fact to assure highly cost-effective quality, you do and will need it to be inherent… and for this, you do need a common foundation and the collective efforts of quality minded individuals. This includes volunteer contributions, which show that quality can in fact be free, and still provide tremendous amounts of value.

We are grateful then to individuals (as well as to the organizations and/or societies to which they are associated) for expressed positive words about our site, and for considering ways in which they may be able to help ensure that collective imagination contributes to enhancing the inherent qualities of the software and information technology industry, profession and related implementations within academic and business settings. With such we extend sincere a Thank You to all for considering sharing awareness of and interest in our site, in order to help further have related messages lifted from the ground into internet-speed flight through the airwaves, so that these messages may further enable progressively stronger contributions to such potential mutual aspirations as helping to:

A manuscript and/or website may not change the world, but does have the potential to enable further positive collaboration… and at minimum can permit others to see or better see that inherent quality is (and will continue indefinitely to be) for the betterment of all. Inherent Quality (i.e. the spirit of what this website conveys and represents) is an infinite continuous movement and the prevalent theme found within many active improvements for and by software and information technology professionals.

In 2007 the words you have just read will start to be clearer to many… by 2010, many more will begin to understand, however with deeper clarity thanks to many contributors… by leap year 2020, for many the words will start to be hindsight and the way of personal and business life… this is a prediction, but not science fiction, as there exist sufficient history and an existing body of evidence to support a finding that the quality movement is and will remain strong. In fact, even to suggest that the waves of quality coming are far greater than ever experienced before. In the decades, centuries and millenniums to follow, inherent quality will have from an on-going strong quality movement, meaning which is perhaps even beyond the current collective imaginations of the talented individuals and teams who daily exhibit exceptional innovation and collaboration through steady progress inherent within private practices, educational institutions, companies, vendors and the industries (and R&D initiatives) at large operating around the globe. By this statement we then convey that the profession (including vendors, industry, academia, government, business and so on) will continue with the present course of progressively and incrementally building quality in and up-front and at ever increasing higher levels. We also convey that there will be increasing levels of compliance thresholds... and increasing levels of collaboration, unity and harmonization as competing sources begin to work together 'more so as one' for greater goods, such as, taking this to the extreme, for the health of the planet… however to present a more simplified example – such as to bring together via mappings and comparisons various icons associated with quality, and then to incorporate the results of related efforts (in various ways) into the profession and into the related products and services of the profession.

Simplifying this further, to pursue highly cost-effective quality you need not subscribe to every letter of the manuscript or every letter of industry and vendor present day products; instead, just to the spirit of inherent quality, as you move forward with your personal and corporate quality management best ethical, moral, humane, informative, helpful, innovative, insightful value-based intentions and standard practices. Having said this, we do point out that we are supporters of things which provide value today and into the future, and which help to showcase, advance and/or motivate advancement of the software and information technology profession and the individuals that comprise the profession. We also recognize that many organizations are progressively called upon to adhere explicitly to regulations, however we encourage all to find ethical ways to show continuous compliance and enforcement more inherently.
